Boys on Film 3 out now... and Peccadillo Pictures needs YOUR help!

After months of preparation, special screenings and festival appearances around the UK - Boys on Film 3: American Boy is now out on general DVD release! You can get it from all the usual outlets, Amazon.co.uk, play.com, Prowler (Soho) and Gay's The Word (Bloomsbury).

We are also asking for YOUR help in rebranding our online store (currently peccapod.com). We've set up a survey asking what you think is the best name for the store. We're putting a lot of time and effort into making sure the new site is user friendly and we believe that starts with getting the name right. We'd really apprecaite it if you could take five minutes to fill the survey in for us!

News Flash - Gay Breakfast Terror strikes Old Street nightclub!

Halloween descended on Ghetto nightclub in Old Street in the shape of a giant mass of sweaty groovers and shakers, smothered in coloured tape, fake blood and butter - all in the name of The Gay Bed and Breakfast of Terror! The club was transformed into a gore-spattered motel, with muffins and crumpets strewn about the dancefloor amongst cobwebs, bed sheets and fake hair. While the movie was screened on the walls to the tune of various disco classics, the bar heaved with salivating crowds of deranged LGBT freaks. The notorious Johnny Lazer DJ'd and fixed up hairdos while Peccadillo goody bags and prizes were handed out to the ghoulish gays. The partying lasted through the night until 5am, and we'd like to thank all those who came along. It was an absolute blast and a fitting launch party for this bonkers film - out now on DVD!

Orientations at ICA - Thanks to those who attended!

After weeks of preparation, our Orientations event at the ICA, featuring some of the best queer shorts (from the Boys on Film and Here Come The Girls compilations) went down an absolute storm. With the cinema packed out, the films were well recieved - and we must admit Bugcrush, despite its dark and unnerving qualities, got a very positive response!

The intro and Q+A was hosted by Pratibha Parmar, and despite a slight wardrobe malfunction in which her dress almost fell down (much to the amusement of the audience) - she took it in her stride, and everything went smoothly. The post screening Q+A was incredibly insightful, with film makers Abbé Robinson (Private Life) and Campbell Ex (Fem) taking to the stage to reveal how and why their films got made. With some interesting questions posed by the audience, we think we can call the night a success!

...and we can't wait til the next one, watch this space!

ICA Shorts Screening tonight and Gay B+B Halloween Special at GHETTO!

Another hectic week here at Peccadillo as the LFF winds up, we've been busy promoting our Short Film Special: Orientations which is at the ICA cinema TONIGHT (Wednesday 28th Oct). It features a selection of shorts from our Boys on Film 3: American Boy and Here Come The Girls compilations.

We confirmed a couple of days ago that Pratibha Parmar will be hosting the post screening Q+A. We're so excited!!

Eyes Wide Open at the London Film Festival

For the past few days the Peccadillo gang have been out and about with Haim Tabakman, director of the beautiful, heart-string-yanking EYES WIDE OPEN. The film had two sell-out screenings at the Vue West End cinema, the second of which had a heated Q&A session - the atmosphere was electric. Audience response has been excellent and we cannot wait to roll this film out in cinemas come April 2010.

IRIS PRIZE - Looking back

Well, team Peccadillo have just about managed to pull through the resulting exhaustion, mania, joy and hangovers that resulted from last week's Iris Prize Festival in Cardiff. It was a thrill to be so involved in this tight-knit, smoothly-run and challenging, exciting film festival. There was a huge selection of short films, and it would be impossible to list them all here. Go to irisprize.org to find out more!
The festival kicked off in serious style, with previous Iris Prize winner Dee Rees' new film COLONIAL GODS. Anticipation was high for this film and everybody was surprised at the quality and heart that the film exuded. That Rees can come to the UK from another continent and portray sensitive issues in a way that is informative, challenging, respectful and heart-driven, all with an eye that never conforms to type (we've all seen American directors fawn over British niceties via obsessions with conveying cliché) is a real breath of fresh air.

Afterwards, Peccadillo invite and guest to the festival Brent Corrigan partook in a cheeky contest at Pulse nightclub where boys from a baying crowd were required to compete in a series of outrageous tasks in order to win a session at the local tanning salon. It was all utterly bonkers.

Over the next few days, shorts and feature films were shown and indulged in. The jury remained tight-lipped throughout, while guests and festival-goers chatted up a frenzy. The line-up was so strong and varied that few could predict a winner. Meanwhile, Peccadillo cat Bam Bam was brought back from the grave and made an appearance on many a carrier bag...

On Saturday Peccadillo hosted a drinks and finger food event at the Cardiff Chapter cinema to celebrate the launch of the HERE COME THE GIRLS 1 and BOYS ON FILM 3 short film compilations. Tom's speech outlined Peccadillo's history, aspirations and the sad passing away of mascot and company logo Bam Bam the cat, who died on February 24th. Huge posters and trailer projections adorned the walls, 80's music was blaring, old friends and new ones were in attendance - the only thing missing was an appetite for alcohol, as everyone was pretty much exhausted. We are now expecting 40 unopened bottles of wine to be sent to Peccadillo HQ - what on earth shall we do with all of it? (suggestions on a postcard, please)

Back at the Cineworld cinema, the prizes were announced. Eldar Rapaport's STEAM won best short, while short film jury member and actor Matthew Montgomery presented the best feature film prize, which was chosen by the friends of Iris, to... Matthew Montgomery for REDWOODS! David Fardmar was given an honorable mention for his unsettling short film MY NAME IS LOVE. Once the prizes were handed out, the Peccadillo team went on to party the night away with Till Kleinert (COWBOY), Brent Corrigan (IN THE CLOSET), Pascal Vincent (GIVE ME YOUR HAND), Joseph Galliano (ex GAY TIMES editor and writer), Brian Krinsky (DISH), Abbé Robinson (PRIVATE LIFE), Eldar Rapaport (STEAM), Matthew Montgomery (PORNOGRAPHY: A THRILLER), Aleem Khan and Neeraj Singh (DIANA), Sybil Mair (THE CHEF'S LETTER), Dann Finkle (Passport Magazine), David Fardmar (MY NAME IS LOVE), David Bonneville (HEIKO), Jason Bushman (HOLLYWOOD JE T'AIME), Michael Tringe (SHATTERCANE), Tomer Velkoff (THE TRAITOR), Mark Pariselli (AFTER), Eddie Tapero (DEEP RED) and Berwyn and the rest of the Iris team. Simon meanwhile celebrated a private party in the women's loo with the team behind lesbian short film LUCHA (below). Rumours are already circulating...

Since returning to London, we have hit the ground running. THE GAY BED AND BREAKFAST OF TERROR and HERE COME THE GIRLS 1 were released this week, while the London Film Festival has just started, with EYES WIDE OPEN premiering next Monday at the Vue West End. Bring it on!

Our first event at Branchage Jersey International Film Festival (and infact the first screening of gay and lesbian shorts in the Channel Islands) went down a storm with around 70 people lucky enough to get in, squeezing in every available space - it was definately one of the highlights of the festival!!! And it doesn't stop there... We're about to head down to Cardiff for the annual Iris Prize Festival where we will be launching our two newest short collections, Here Come The Girls and Boys on Film 3: American Boy.

The Born In 68 UK theatrical release opened last night at Curzon Renoir, complete with inciteful and interesting Q+A with directors Olivier Ducastel and Jacques Martineau.

The film now moves to Curzon Soho where it will play over the weekend. Be sure to catch this epic tale on the big screen so head over to the website to find out if your local cinema is playing it.

The Greek Pete debate...

It doesn't stop there - Greek Pete sold out over its opening weekend at Shortwave cinema Bermondsey and the film got a four star review from The Finiancial Times - of all places.
